What Readers are Saying about Thin Ice — and Melting

There are hundreds of books on the market that deal with the subject of the US economy, why it works, why it doesn't, and so forth. Finally, someone with no "axe to grind" has written a book that takes the information on what has happened and is happening to our economy and uses it to draw some logical conclusions. Thin Ice – and Melting is not a "page turner" like some popular books, because so many of the pages contain a wealth of information and in many cases profound conclusions.

Will did not write a political screed. In fact, both parties will find parts of the book they don't like or disagree with. Yet, Will's facts are legitimate and his conclusions, in most cases are inescapable. THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ANY MEMBER OF GOVERNMENT, AND CERTAINLY FOR ANY PROSPECTIVE POLITICAL CANDIDATE. It is also a treasure for the media "talking heads" who want to opine on the current economic situation.

Since the book was largely written and in production prior to the most recent "crisis" and "meltdown," one might think it is not current - but it is. It only emphasizes the flaws in the thinking and actions proposed and taken in our halls of government. This is not light reading. It requires a quiet place and, if readers are prone to mark up books they read, it will have lots of marks and dog-eared pages.

Seldom has so little money been able to buy so much valuable information. Order it now, and start through it. It will open your eyes, as it did mine.

Will brings the hard economic data into Thin Ice – and Melting, and it is at once enlightening and terrifying.  He makes the compelling case that US political leadership—conservatives and liberals share in the blame here—has systematically taken its eye off the ball, and that our economy is at serious risk of implosion unless our elected officials set new priorities and take a new tack.  This is required reading for anyone who wants to understand our economy, and who wants the factual information necessary to argue the case for a saner economic policy.

It is a rare occurrence when you read a concise, accurate, and predictive analysis of current economic times. Such is the new book Thin Ice – and Melting by Will Kaydos. I have been planning for my high net worth clients for thirty years, have served with the CFP Board, and teach financial planning and economics courses. I find Will’s understanding of our current economic mess prescient and profound. No one knows the future, but with insight and understanding of history, one can weave the threads of historical comparisons to produce a tapestry of fact and future that provides for an action plan in the present. Will, great job!

Thin Ice-and Melting is an accurate, complete, and well researched analysis of today's economy-where we are, how we got there, and where we are headed unless our elected representatives recognize economic reality and formulate policies to deal with the impending crisis.

The book provides a ready reference full of hard facts, not only for those professionals involved in the financial world but also for the average reader or investor who wants to make some sense of the myriad conflicting claims and counter-claims reported in the media.

I highly recommend it for those citizens who wish to educate themselves in the facts and the forces in play in our economic system.

Through the years of working with large and small clients I have read a great number of books and publications regarding the US economy and how it should work opposed to how it does.  As most other open minded individuals, I have been very frustrated by the “double talk” in most of these publications – until now!  When Will first presented me with his thoughts on broaching this subject I was excited but somewhat cautious in my enthusiasm because of the disappointing materials I had encountered to date.

When I first began reading Will’s “Thin Ice – and Melting” I was thoroughly delighted by the concise and “no nonsense” approach taken.  I quickly decided that this is not a classic “whodunit” but a very non-partisan assemblage of information about our economy and why it works along with why and how it doesn’t.  With his very factual and legitimate presentation leading to indisputable conclusions, it accurately is a thinking person’s “must read”!

In view of the fact that we are living through our recent economic “crisis and meltdown” this book is particularly relevant since it very ardently emphasizes the faulty thinking of many of our “leaders” and government officials and certainly is substantiated historically by the reported actions taken.  I certainly will urge my clients and friends to read this very precise and informative book which will aid all of us in achieving a much better understanding of our economy – factually.
